Our Beers
The micro-brewery uses only the best ingredients and traditional craft brewing techniques to produce beers of the highest standard and true to their defined styles. We produce a variety of beers to suit varying individuals' tastes. Our core range of beers is growing all the time and will be supplemented by seasonal variants as the year progresses. In our first year of brewing we have had notable success with our 'Sunraker' beer which was awarded 'Somerset Beer of the Festival' at the Southwest Camra Beer Festival 2008 at Minehead.
All our beers are produced purely from the best malt and whole hop cones to give fullness of palate with a pleasing hop flavour and aroma. The main ingredient of any beer is pale malt and we use only the best Maris Otter malt produced by traditional floor malting at Tuckers Maltings in Newton Abbot, Devon, one of the only two floor maltings remaining in the country. The hops used are whole hop cones from Charles Faram hop merchants in Warminster, Wiltshire. Each recipe is formulated using the wide variety of malt and hops to produce a beer true to style to give maximum drinking satisfaction to the consumer.
The beers are casked for distribution to pubs both locally and also further afield. Finings are added to the casks so that when it arrives at the pub it settles out quickly in the cellar so that the beer can be served as fresh as possible.
All our bottled beers are naturally conditioned in the bottle by the action of the yeast on the residual fermentable sugars. No finings are added to the bottled beers which settle out of their own accord leaving a thin film of yeast in the bottom. This makes the beer suitable for drinking by vegetarians and vegans as no animal products are used in their production. Care should be taken when pouring the beer to ensure that the yeast is undisturbed so that a crystal clear drink is dispensed into the glass. All the bottled beers are accredited by Camra to carry the 'Real Ale in the Bottle' logo.
