Quantock Stout 4.5%
This beer was originally brewed as a dark, dry stout for bottling. Some of the first batch was put into casks and proved to be popular with local pubs and hence is now available on draught as well as in bottles.
The beer won double Gold in the SIBA South West Beer Competition 2010 being awarded:
Champion Bottled Beer of the South West
The beer will be judged against the other regional winners early next year for the National Champion.
The beer is brewed from the best Maris Otter pale malt with the addition of flaked barley to give dryness and roast barley giving the distinctive flavour of a dark stout. This highly flavoured beer requires a hop to match it, the variety used being Pilgrim with Goldings added in the latter stages of the boil for additional flavour and aroma.
