About Quantock Brewery ...
Quantock Brewery was set up in December 2007 to brew quality real ales in cask and bottles using traditional craft brewing techniques. All the raw materials are sourced locally wherever possible and the resulting beers are distributed to pubs and shops mainly in the South West, but also throughout the UK via wholesalers and national distributors.
Our philosophy is the brew the highest quality ales using the best natural ingredients. All our beers are brewed entirely from the highest quality grain and whole hop cones, the only other ingredients being yeast and water. No chemicals are added to the beer and no sugar is used to dumb down the flavour of the beer. We want to produce quality beers that have flavour and character, far different from the mass produced dull beers that we tend to find in a lot of pubs.
Quantock Brewery is a small family run business with the emphasis on consistency and quality. The brewing plant is an 8 barrel size with 3 fermenters allowing us to produce 3 brews per week, up to 48 casks or approximately 7,000 bottles. Up until quite recently all the bottling was done by hand in the brewery being bottle conditioned beer. All the bottle conditioned beers have been accredited by CAMRA and carry their Real Ale in the Bottle logo.
Bottling by hand is very labour intensive and time consuming and as time has progressed with production volumes increasing, there is a limit to how much we can do so we have started to send out some of our beers to be contract bottled by third parties. These beers are filtered and carbonated which appeals to a sector of the market, but we will still produce some bottle conditioned beers for the sector that want this.
We have a comprehensive range of beers from 3.8% ABV up to 9.0% ABV but we are constantly looking at introducing new beers to our range. Our latest addition is Rorkes Drift which is a 4.2% ABV lager style beer brewed in support of the Royal Engineers. This beer is available in cask and bottles and 5 pence from the sale of each bottle or pint will be donated to the Royal Engineers Association (REA) for the welfare of "Sappers" everywhere. The bottled beers will be able to be purchased from the website soon for direct delivery to your door. In the meantime please call the brewery on 01823 433812 to place your order.
